The Canterbury Maps website provides free access to maps, records, information and data from the local government councils in the Canterbury region.
Interactive maps provide many easy-to-use ways to look at and find information resources held by the councils.
The maps can be used from any computer, touchscreen or mobile device with an internet connection, using a map viewer similar in operation to Google Maps. The viewer is based on HTML technology, and will run in most modern web browsers. No special licence, subscription or software is required.
Using the map viewer you can search the maps, select areas, view pop-up information about particular locations, and download or print the maps for use in projects and reports.
In general, most of the information is made available under under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 New Zealand License but there is a small percentage of data on our site that is not available for re-use. Find out more about licensing and use of the data here.
